The Houston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) celebrated the end of another successful year at Lupe’s Tortilla last night for what is affectionately called Mingle Bells. Members dressed in their sweater “worst” and came together to honor the board of directors and volunteers who helped organize this year’s events. It was an emotional moment when Chuck Smith, who is stepping down as PRSA’s President at the end of 2018, was presented with a gift honoring his time and commitment he has dedicated over the years to the chapter.
Members were encouraged to wear their most dreadful sweaters in hopes to win the prestigious award for “Ugliest Sweater.” The competition was fierce this year including sweaters that lit up and sequin flamingos, but the sweater that came out on top was achieved by Zintel PR's Elizabeth Yerger. She took home the win in a bright green sweater decked out with cats, tinsel, and wearing a hat straight out of Whoville. The night ended as the tacos began to dwindle, and salt started to disappear from the glasses. As members started to make their way out, it was clear that Mingle Bells was an evening filled with friends, laughter, and sweaters that would make your Great Aunt Mildred proud.
